Description:
The person in this position will assist patrons
in their use of the Douglas County Law Library.
Responsibilities:
Provide reference and other assistance to the patrons
of the Douglas County Law Library while making sure to not give legal advice.
Duties:
Assist patrons in person, by telephone, and via e-mail
by directing them to the Law Library’s print and electronic resources.
Assists patrons in their use of the Law Library's print and electronic
resources.
Turn on, restart or otherwise keep Law Library work stations ready
for use.
Assist patrons with the copier/printer.
Reshelve print materials and keep the Law Library neat and tidy.
Perform miscellaneous activities as needed to assist Law Library
patrons.
Optional Duties:
Be responsible for opening, staffing, and closing the Law Library
when the Law Librarian is absent for vacation, illness, or other reasons.
Requirements:
Possess good communication skills.
Personal computer experience.
Ability to navigate the World Wide Web using Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Ability to learn and operate the Lexis legal database on the World
Wide Web.
Ability to work courteously with people in routine and difficult
situations.
Ability to pass a background check.
Preferred:
Previous library experience.
Previous experience performing reference assistance.
Experience with the Lexis legal database.
Experience with legal research.
Previous experience with photocopiers.
Experience with Netscape.
