Patron Education and Training Assistant - Volunteer


Description:

The person in this position will participate in the education and training of Douglas County Law Library patrons in the use of Library resources.


Responsibilities:

Assist the Law Librarian and other designated staff in the design, implementation, and operation of programs to instruct Law Library patrons in the optimal use of electronic and other resources in the Law Library.


Duties:

Design curricula, guides, handouts, and other instructional resource materials to be used in classes and presentations for the education and training of current and potential Library patrons in the use of Library resources.

Plan and implement a program of classes and presentations to educate and train current and potential Library patrons in the use of Library resources.

Assist the Law Librarian and other designated staff in conducting instructional classes and presentations on Library resources for current and potential Library patrons.


Requirements:

Experience with Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Ability to learn and operate the Lexis legal database on the World Wide Web.

Ability to plan and organize coherent presentations on Law Library resources.

Ability to instruct and give oral presentations on the use of Law Library resources to groups of Library patrons.

Ability to work courteously with other people.

Ability to pass a background check.


Preferred:

Experience with the Lexis legal database.

Experience with legal research.

Experience giving bibliographic instruction.

Teaching experience.
