Description:
The person in this position will operate the Douglas
County Law Library Art Gallery program.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate art exhibitions in the Law Library to ensure
the smooth and efficient operation of the Library's art exhibitions program.
Duties:
Identify artists for exhibit consideration.
Assist the Law Librarian, the Publicity and Marketing Assistant, and other
designated Library staff in the development and execution of a public relations
campaign to recruit artists and exhibitions and to promote current and future
exhibitions.
On a monthly basis, schedule and oversee installation of exhibits in the
gallery by communicating with artists, facilitating the hanging of artwork,
ensuring that label and other descriptive copy is written, developing promotional
materials as needed, and any other tasks necessary to ensure exhibits are
mutually beneficial to the Library and the artists.
When appropriate, evaluate visitor reactions to exhibits.
Requirements:
An interest in art.
Possession of good written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with Microsoft Word.
Ability to pass a background check.
Preferred:
Background in art, preferably at the college level.
Experience or interest in art education, arts management, or museum studies.
Knowledge of the local art scene.
Familiarity with spreadsheet and database computer programs, such as Microsoft
Excel.
